A new Economist/YouGov survey has revealed jaw-dropping numbers that have sent shockwaves through the political world: 87 percent of Democrats want illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia — an alleged MS-13 gang member with a history of violence — brought back into the United States.

The poll asked: “The Trump administration recently deported Kilmar Abrego Garcia to El Salvador despite a court order prohibiting his deportation. Do you believe Trump should bring Abrego Garcia back to the U.S.?”

Among Democrats, a staggering 87% answered “yes,” while only 6% opposed bringing Garcia back. By contrast, a majority of Republicans — 54% — said Garcia should not be allowed back, with just 17% supporting his return. Independents were split, with 50% supporting his return, 23% opposing, and 27% unsure.

Even more alarming, the survey found that 58% of Democrats do not believe Garcia is part of MS-13 — despite two separate judges affirming his gang affiliation.

Garcia was deported to El Salvador after entering the U.S. unlawfully as a teenager. Though Democrats and the media have spun his story as one of injustice, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested him in March after uncovering strong evidence of his violent background and MS-13 ties.

Despite claims of a supposed “administrative error,” President Donald Trump has fiercely defended Garcia’s deportation. Speaking to reporters last week, Trump pulled no punches.

“They have no interest in that prisoner. That prisoner’s record is unbelievably bad,” Trump said, describing Garcia as an “illegal alien, MS-13 gang member, and foreign terrorist.”

Trump reminded the public that “two separate judges affirmed Garcia was a member of MS-13,” a gang infamous for horrific crimes like slicing up two 16-year-old girls walking to school.

When Garcia was arrested, he reportedly wore a sweatshirt covered in rolls of cash and emblazoned with MS-13 gang symbols. He was also caught transporting seven illegal immigrants from Texas to Maryland without a driver’s license and was traveling with two other known violent MS-13 members.

Garcia’s record goes beyond gang violence. In 2020 and 2021, his wife filed for protective orders against him, documenting incidents of physical abuse, including punching, scratching, and leaving her severely bruised. She told the court, “I am afraid to be close to him,” and provided photos and videos of the injuries he inflicted.

Yet despite these chilling facts, Democrats have made Garcia a rallying cry. Some even claim that his return should be a “top agenda item” for the party.

Trump blasted this disturbing trend, warning, “This man is a very violent person, and they want this man to be brought back into our country where he can be free.”

He further accused Democrats of caring more about protecting dangerous illegal aliens than about the American families — known as Angel Families — who have lost loved ones to crimes committed by illegal immigrants.

The contrast couldn’t be starker: while the Trump administration works to secure the border and deport violent criminals, Democrats are doubling down on policies that put American citizens at risk.

The poll surveyed 1,625 respondents between April 19 and April 22, 2025, with a margin of error of +/- 3.3%.

With numbers like these, it’s no wonder Democrats are desperately trying to spin the narrative — but Americans are seeing the truth clearer than ever.
