On January 29th, famed Sesame Street star Elmo posted to Twitter/X to check in and ask the people how they’ve been doing. With thousands of people replying to the familiar and comforting character, many were deadpan and honest and told him how they’d been doing; it wasn’t good at all. This response was clearly far more than Elmo had bargained for, so he started directing them to resources. Other characters jumped in to offer support too, and wouldn’t ya know it, President Biden dropped in to say something.
Re-posting Elmo’s response to check in more often, Biden added, “I know how hard it is some days to sweep the clouds away and get to sunnier days. Our friend Elmo is right: We have to be there for each other, offer our help to a neighbor in need, and above all else, ask for help when we need it. Even though it’s hard, you’re never alone.”
Naturally, the responses were gold.
As one user responded, “What Joe Biden really needs to do is stop talking to Sesame Street characters and close the US border. Our country needs to take care of itself first, otherwise we’ll never be able to help our neighbor. Biden is letting the United States be destroyed. This isn’t make believe.”
Others talked about how Elmo would be a better fit on the Democratic ticket or how Biden told kids they and their families would die without the COVID vaccine. The three soldiers killed in Jordan that Biden has yet to properly acknowledge or respond to were also mentioned.
Across the board, people were largely disgusted by his shameful attempt to claim he cares about the American people after his decades of showing us otherwise. Those who thought Biden did a good thing with this repost were quickly silenced or corrected on that idea.
