ICE Agents Under Siege – They Are In More Danger Than EVER

Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union Trump border czar Tom Homan said threats against Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s officers are up 1200 percent.

“Threats on ICE officers are up 1200%. They’re being doxxed on social media. They’re getting death threats every day. They’ve been attacked. They’ve been shot at. And you know, these officers out there are looking for the worst of the worst. So they’re protecting themselves. And I think they’re following the law. And if any ICE officer acts out of policy or does something inappropriate, they’ll be held accountable.”

Homan continued his assessment of the situation facing ICE agents.

“But we’ve got to remember, I mean, they’re under attack. And we’re at a place in this country where all of a sudden the ones who enforce law, the bad guys and the ones who broke the laws are victims. I’m going to trust the men and women of ICE and Border Patrol who have been trained very well to do the right thing. But I’ll say again: if someone does something inappropriate, out of policy, illegal, they need to be held accountable by simply thinking, “I haven’t seen that.” And again, I’m not in every arrest. I’m not in every operation. I trust the men and women of ICE and Border Patrol do the right thing.”

The 1200 percent increase in threats represents an exponential rise in danger for federal immigration enforcement officers. This is not a small uptick but a massive escalation that puts agents and their families at risk.

ICE officers being doxxed on social media means their personal information including home addresses and family details are being published online. This exposes them to harassment and potential violence at their homes.

Daily death threats create a constant state of fear and stress for officers simply trying to do their jobs. They wake up each morning knowing someone may have threatened to kill them overnight.

The physical attacks and shootings Homan referenced show these are not just empty threats. ICE agents have been targeted with actual violence including gunfire.

Homan’s point that officers are looking for the worst of the worst criminals explains why they need to protect themselves. They are not arresting jaywalkers but dangerous felons who have broken immigration laws on top of other crimes.

His statement that law enforcers have become the bad guys while lawbreakers are treated as victims captures the insanity of current political discourse. Democrats and activists portray illegal aliens as sympathetic while demonizing the agents enforcing the law.

The doxxing campaigns against ICE agents are organized efforts by left-wing activists. They deliberately publish officer information to intimidate them and their families.

Homan’s trust in ICE and Border Patrol training shows confidence in the professionalism of these agencies. He believes they act appropriately in the vast majority of cases.

His caveat that officers who act inappropriately will be held accountable demonstrates he is not giving them carte blanche. There are rules and policies that must be followed.

The fact that Homan felt compelled to make these comments on CNN shows how bad the situation has become. ICE agents are under such sustained attack that the border czar needs to publicly defend them.

The 1200 percent increase correlates with the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement. As ICE has ramped up deportations the backlash from the left has intensified proportionally.

Social media platforms allowing the doxxing of federal law enforcement officers represents a serious security failure. These posts should be immediately removed and the posters prosecuted.

The attacks on ICE agents parallel the defund the police movement’s vilification of local law enforcement. Both represent efforts to demoralize and handicap those who enforce the law.
