Governors Push for Foreign Worker Imports Amid Trump’s Crackdown

A group of governors, including some Republicans, has ignited a firestorm by urging President Donald Trump to relax his hardline immigration policies and allow them to import foreign workers, arguing it’s crucial to fill labor gaps in their states. On Monday, Breitbart reported the plea, led by figures like Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Utah Governor Spencer Cox, comes as Trump’s administration ramps up deportations and tightens borders, slashing illegal crossings by over 90%. For conservatives, this is a betrayal of the America First agenda, pitting state leaders against the GOP’s mandate to prioritize U.S. workers.

The governors’ letter, sent last week, begs for an expansion of H-2A and H-2B visa programs for agricultural and seasonal workers, citing “significant labor shortages” that threaten industries like farming, tourism, and construction.

“We respectfully request that you expand access to the H-2A and H-2B visa programs to address these critical workforce needs,” they wrote, per Breitbart.

Sanders, Trump’s former press secretary, and Cox, a moderate GOP figure, joined 18 others—mostly Republicans from states like Idaho, Nebraska, and North Dakota. They argue foreign labor’s essential to keep fields harvested, hotels staffed, and economies humming, especially with Trump’s mass deportation plans targeting 11 million illegals.

But conservatives see red. Trump’s DHS Secretary Kristi Noem blasted the move on Friday, telling “Hannity” that hundreds of thousands of criminal migrants entered under Biden, many tied to gangs like Tren de Aragua. She’s filling Gitmo with deportees, signaling no mercy.

“We have hundreds of thousands of criminals that were let illegally into this country,” Noem said. “That means they have criminal records. They’ve perpetuated crimes in this country.”

Posts on X exploded—one user fumed, “Sanders and Cox want cheap labor over American jobs? This is a slap in the face to Trump voters.” Another wrote, “Deport illegals, not hire more—governors need a reality check.”

Republicans know the stakes. Biden’s open borders let 8.5 million illegals in, per CBP data, while wages stagnated for U.S. workers. Trump’s January 20 “emergency price relief” memo and Noem’s raids aim to fix that, prioritizing citizens over foreign hires. The governors’ plea echoes corporate greed—H-2 visas keep wages low, per the Economic Policy Institute, hurting Main Street.

This isn’t just about farms—it’s about sovereignty. With DOGE cutting $55 billion in waste and Congress pushing reconciliation, the GOP’s ready to back Trump’s vision: secure borders, deport threats, and boost American labor. Governors can complain, but conservatives demand loyalty to the mandate of 2024—America first, period.
