Hollywood is full of oxymorons. The elitists claim to care about the environment – and they’ll spend millions supporting Democratic candidates who believe that climate change is necessary to our survival.
The problem is that Hollywood is where some of the biggest issues lie.
Liberal celebrities seem to say one thing and do another.
And many of the residents who aren’t making millions are quick to point out the problem. “We die so the 1% can fly.” This was a comment made by a neighbor within the Lake Balboa neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Residents are noticing that there are more and more noxious fumes in the air, and it’s all being generated by private jets.
It seems that while the Hollywood elite has no problem lecturing the world on the need for climate change, they also don’t want to give up their private jets. And the number of private jets showing up in LA has steadily been increasing over the past few years.
Private jets often take off from the Van Nuys airport – and frequently land there, too. In 2016, it handled approximately 46,000 jet operations. Things have changed in the past five years – and not exactly for the better, either. The jet operations have increased to nearly 70,000 a year. That means that there’s basically a jet either taking off or landing every 7 minutes.
Guess what that does for the neighbors? Well, many feel as though they’re being exposed to entirely too many noxious fumes. And it means not being able to take their kids out to the backyard or to nearby playgrounds.
A single jet may run its engine for an hour or more in preparation of a flight. And the airport isn’t separated from residential streets all that well. Depending on the angle, it may only be a low wall or a chain-link fence.
As the LA Times reported, “While the Jenners of the world selfie on the tarmac, residents who live yards away are eating their dust – or, more accurately, their ultrafine particles.” These particles have also led to various respiratory and cardiovascular conditions.
Residents are now demanding that an air quality study be conducted. They want hard numbers to show what they’re being exposed to.
It’s not likely to change things, though. With the money that the Kardashians and others with private jets have to throw around, it’s enough to keep those who can do anything quiet. It’s hush money at the expense of residents in the nearby area.
Plenty of supposed climate activists don’t really pay attention to what their private jets are doing. Even Biden’s environmental czar, John Kerry, jet-sets around the globe in a private jet. Why? It’s more convenient.
Meanwhile, Biden, Buttigieg, and the rest of the administration want us to ditch our gas-powered cars in favor of electric cars. And it’s not to help with climate change. Not really. It’s to offset what the private jets are doing to our atmosphere.
When you look at it like that, it doesn’t seem fair, does it?
And the Van Nuys Airport isn’t just creating a significant amount of fumes. It’s also known for noise. While it has a “request” that flights aren’t taking off or landing between 11 PM and 7 AM, it is not enforced. As such, residents are calling for a true curfew so that they don’t have to experience the roar of planes throughout all times of the night.
Countless celebrities use the Van Nuys Airport because it is close to Malibu, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills.
Steven Spielberg once reported, “Global warming is a scientific reality.” And yet, he’s one of the many guilty of using a private jet as his primary mode of travel. In fact, in less than 6 weeks, his airport has taken off or landed 13 times.
Yard, a British research website, conducted a study on private jets and celebrity carbon offenders. Its results tell us everything we need to know: “Our data reveals that the celebs have emitted an average of 3376.64 tonnes of CO2 emissions in just their private jet usage in 2022 so far. That’s 482.37 times more than the average person’s annual emissions.”
