In light of last year’s school shooting in Michigan, the Biden administration reports a new rule for firearms stating they must be in secured storage devices.

A new rule was issued on Monday that requires all federally licensed gun retailers to certify that they have gun storage containers available that are specifically compatible with guns being sold to customers on-site. The website has an extensive list of acceptable devices the Justice Department has approved.

The rule is set to take effect on Feb. 3, and will be law for anywhere firearms are being sold to non-licensed individuals. Attorney General Merrick Garland said the new policy intends to, simply put, aid in preventing gun crime.

A spokesman for the National Rifle Association, Lars Dalseide responded to the Washington Times by saying, “The gun-rights group has always supported the safe storage of firearms, But the problem is that many gun stores sell used guns, which means they have to also have some means of gun storage on-site regardless of what comes with new firearms. That means already limited inventory space is going to have to be filled with expensive and often unnecessary gun storage options.”

Bearing Arms, a pro-Second Amendment blog, mentioned that this won’t change much strictly because new guns generally come with gun locks that qualify under the new regulation.

The Times also added that these changes were made one month following the arrest of the parents of Ethan Crumbley, the 15-year-old student from Michigan took his parent’s firearm and killed four people, injuring seven others.

The failure to secure the 9mm handgun they had purchased just days before the shooting resulted in James and Jennifer Crumbley being charged with 4 counts of involuntary manslaughter on December 3.

Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald reported that in the charging documents that the parents had failed to take notice of the warning signs from the teenager suggesting he would follow through with such a horrifying act. Leaving the gun easily accessible in a drawer, and unlocked in the parent’s bedroom. Any attempt to make us safer, Especially in the way of saving us from ourselves, appears to be a simple way for them to tighten the screws on us in the days to come.

We know all too well that no matter how many cases, gun safes, or lockboxes we require it will never stop children or adults from killing each other. We must stop and invest time with our children and teach them to love and care for those around them.

It’s pretty cut and dry; if we don’t show our children how to respect others on a daily basis we can’t expect them to just innately respond to others with empathy. Public school systems have been one of the most divisive tools from the very beginning. Our government has created an environment pitting them against one another based on the color of their skin.

Earlier in the year in Cupertino, CA, they asked a bunch of 3rd graders to deconstruct their racial identities and rank themselves based on their power and privilege. It appears their ultimate goal is to cause division. Instructing children to do these things is in no way going to teach children the fundamental skills to be productive members of society.

We need to teach our children how to cope with adversity as opposed to fanning the naturally occurring flames as well as the lack of self-control that is blatantly apparent in today’s society.

We now live in a world where we produced a whole generation that has no real consequences to deal with, and now they’re busy not even raising the generation they have created.

We have probation periods we put them on if they choose to drink and drive down the road. If they complete the 90 day probation period, we wipe it off their record like it never even happened. We stuck remote controls in their hands to play some of the goriest games where the goal was to kill as many people as fast as they could in order to gain rewards. We have literally left them up to their own devices.

Why would they think now, they might be accountable for anything? It seems the chickens are coming home to roost. Yet, we act surprised.
